Stan Brakhage

Stan Brakhage (1933-2003) was known as the most important experimental filmmakers of the 20th century. He refered to his films as moving visual thinking due to his lack of a story in them. He usually hand painted the film and scratched images onto the film and also used collage techniques, for example. Mothlight.
My favorite of his films is "black ice" -1994
what i like most about it is that it gives the illusion of moving in space.

Flip book photos

So, Saturday i took the pictures for the flip book. I went to the art museum and my friend Miranda was the main person moving in the flip book. I ended up taking more than 200 pictures. I hope there are some i will be able to skip so i wont have to pay so much at the imaging lab for the sheets of print outs. I'm still working on putting the flip book together and hopefully the final product will be exactly what i wanted it to.

Persistence of vision

~~~"persistence of vision, is the perceptual processes of the brain or the retina of the human eye that retains an image for a brief moment. "
An example that could describe this is that when shown a picture for a few seconds the person who looked at it could remember the exact picture without it being infront of them.
~~~Animated Toy:
An animated toy i wanted to discuss is a flip book. A flip book is a book with a series of pictures that change slighty from page to page. When the pages are turned fast it appears that things in the photos are moving.
